PET = Preliminary English Test
AN EXPLANATION
PET is an extern English test from the University of Cambridge for people who can use everyday written and spoken English at an intermediate level and it is taken in over eighty different countries, with the majority of candidates coming from Europe and South America.
The test can be done only by 9th graders and is usually available six times a year on fixed dates in March, May, June, November and December.
PET covers all four language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking.
THE EXAM – Pet has three papers
PREPARING FOR THE EXAM
You can take part in our preparation courses which are run by Mrs. Katzbichler. We meet fortnightly, on Wednesday from 1.15 pm to 2.45 pm and practise all four skills – reading, listening, writing and speaking in a variety of everyday situations.
Apart from that you are supported with a number of materials by the Cambridge ESOL website.
And there’s a wide choice of books and other aids available at your local bookshops.

- Listening: 30 minutes (approx)
- Speaking: up to 10 minutes
